Concrete Steps Repair Costs

You will probably be surprised how affordable concrete steps leveling and repair can be. There really is no other more cost-effective way to fix the steps. Tearing them out and replacing them would be significantly more expensive. The overall cost depends heavily on a number of factors, including:

  1. Number of steps to be lifted
  2. How much of a void is under the steps?
  3. Are the steps connected to the sidewalk?

These factors, and more, are taken into consideration when estimating your project. But, overall, you can expect to pay up to 70% off the price of tearing the steps out and replacing them. Rest assured, when you contact A-1 Concrete Leveling Denver to do your concrete step repair, you will be getting the best price and the best solution for your job.

Causes of Sunken Steps

Steps sink for similar reasons as many other concrete slabs. Often water can undermine the integrity of the soil base under the steps, causing them to drop to fill the void. Also, in climates that fluctuate from rainy to very dry, seasons of drought can cause the soil to shrink, which can also cause voids under the slab.

Whatever the cause, A-1 Concrete Leveling Denver will always recommend steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of future issues. This may be a simple as moving a downspout so it doesn't drain near the steps. Count on our expert technicians to give you the solutions you need.

The Concrete Steps Leveling Process

The process for leveling steps is sometimes a bit different than how we level other concrete slabs. Most of the time we still drill 1" holes in a few areas in the steps, and pump our limestone slurry beneath it, but because steps can be significantly heavier than sidewalk slabs (concentrated in a smaller area than say a driveway slab) we may have to use some mechanical lifting tools as well. These often consist of steel bars with angle iron that is placed under the bottom of the concrete steps, then lifted with hydraulic jacks. This is conducted while we pump under the stairs, ensuring a steady, even lift. During lifting, all voids are completely filled, creating a solid foundation for the stairs.

The crew did an awesome job leveling my concrete patio to match the level of my new deck. They were quick, efficient, showed up when they said they would and were very reasonable on cost. I would use them again. I got their name from a prior customer and I will now recommend them as well. Great job
